Sometimes deciding what to put on your feet, or not, can be a bigger deal than the physically act itself. Sure it seems like a tiny decision in the grand scheme of your day but when you take a closer look, it’s the first domino. And so it’s up to you if it will topple over or create a lasting chain reaction, perhaps in the shape of versatile lifestyle hiking silhouettes ready for their close up.
If our first collaboration with HOKA was about testing the soil, our reunion is about digging deeper to expand on the role of footwear in the pursuit of exploration and creativity. Through the lenses of scale and perspective, the Bodega x HOKA Tor Ultra Hi & Lo “World at Large” balance unique color combinations with top-tier technology, creating versatile options to re-contextualize old stomping grounds and inspire treks to parts unknown, the world over.
When you’re young, childlike wonder can turn a patch of dirt into a bustling metropolis, capturing your imaginative attention for hours on end. However over time this glimmer in your eye starts to fade. Who knew all you needed to bring it back were the right kicks?
Nicknamed the ‘Yin and Yang of day-to-day hiking’, by us… just now, our Tor Ultra pack starts things off on a Hi note. Made from Sierra Buck Leather and filled in with non-wicking mesh panels, the sneaker-boot hybrid is christened with a GORE-TEX lining, Vibram® Megagrip outsole, and rubber toe cap. Impressed with a HOKA brand stamp on the lateral side, flanked with an indented pattern that spreads to the medial side, the membrane-like ankle completes a textural trifecta. But just when security couldn’t get any tighter, speed lacing top hooks and external flaps ensure a smooth take-off and landing, every time. Dunked in a lilac adobe color palette, and garnished with retro woven “Bodega” webbing on the pull tab and tongue, the Hi treatment brings new shades to the earth tone conversation, giving it distinguished flare. Apart from its robust yet tightly packed shape, this colorway is also what helps open the flood gates to a career that bridges the peaks of mountains with skylines of cites, across the globe.
Taking inspiration from its big bro, the Lo packs all the tech specs of its vertical companion just with a chopped top block. Replacing the HOKA brand stamp with perforated swatches, the exoskeleton takes on an understated appearance which lets the silhouette and layered construction speak for itself. Carrying on the theme of South Western colors, the upper opens with a desert landscape and is backed by a turquoise and lilac oasis creating a choreographed contrast. Honed in with a black toe cap leading right to the tire tread midsole, emphasizing the Tor’s motion packed stance, both models are ready to hit the ground running – or walking at a leisurely pace.
