Chocolate
Descending onto the scene back in 1994, Chocolate formed after a talented group of skaters formed an official alliance with their friends at Girl skateboards. Founded only a year prior by Rick Howard, Mike Carroll, Megan Baltimore and soon-to-be-music video director Spike Jonze, Girl was already the hottest thing on wheels at the time, and their allegiance with the Chocolate crew quickly catapulted the new brand to early prominence.
Already making a name for themselves with a skillful skating roster that included Chico Brenes, Daniel Castillo, Paulo Diaz, Richard Mulder, Shamil Randle, Gabriel Rodriguez and Ben Sanchez, the brand also distinguished themselves from the pack through the signature style of their skateboards and apparel often centered around the sprawling, chaotic, street calligraphy scribble of long time art director, Evan Hecox.
