Once in an indigo moon, an article of clothing goes beyond a fun new purchase or even a wardrobe staple, and becomes part of your aesthetic identity.

With its ability to tell a visual story based on the fades and wear patterns you create while living life, to all the DIY inspiration that rushes in when you look at the fabric itself, if any material can capture someone's individuality, it’s denim.
However, one area that denim hasn’t been given a chance to really shine in is the final frontier: footwear. And seeing as footwear paints as candid a picture as possible when it comes to representing personal habits and style, we thought it was a no-brainer to combine the two. And luckily Suicoke agreed.
The Bodega X Suicoke Kaw “One of One” takes denim and the idea of sandals and throws them outside their comfort zones while keeping your feet fully in theirs. Using the crowd – and feet pleasing support and security of the original Suicoke Kaw, with its original wedge sole and EVA antibacterial footbed, you couldn’t ask for a more stable foundation to build off of. Not to mention the two tone yellow sole sandwich which perfectly sets the stage for the main event.
Swapping out the tried and true nylon shell for an all blue stone-washed denim, the layered upper is where this collaboration really shines, making this sandal feel like ‘one small step for denim sandals, one giant step for denim sandal-kind’ with its casual meets utilitarian appeal.
Like all denim worth its weight in ounces, the strength of the denim for this project is its character, highlighted by a wash producing hues and graininess that reveal a color-wheel worth of blue nuances. This creates a look and feel that isn’t too raw or weathered but is perfectly worn in, from the first wear.
The two signature Velcro straps on the lateral side add as much width customization as they do technical style while a padded polyester under-lay makes sure the top of your foot doesn’t get left behind. Finished off with the equivalent of a car roof rack worth of openings and loops to accessorize, and a stash pocket for all your foot pouch sized goodies - secured with perfectly aged snap buttons, the sandal's chunky silhouette effortlessly stands up to a full or baggy pant, while easily thriving when paired with slimmer options or even shorts.
