Vivienne Westwood GEL Kayano 27 DE: Anyone familiar with the intricacies of punk fashion knows that there’s actually a lot of work that goes into the chaos of the ripped, torn, and safety pinned aesthetic. For the final entry in their 2021 collaboarative series, ASICS and Vivienne Westwood apply the principles of painstaking deconstruction to the GEL-Kayano 27.

The deconstructed design reveals and highlights each individual technical element of the GEL-Kayano 27’s construction, with a nylon ripstop upper base providing both a utilitarian aura and raw, work in progress textural feeling. The conceptual design is cushioned with the same GEL, DUOMAX and Impact Guidance System technology found on the standard, performance running incarnation of the GEL-Kayano 27.
