The brainchild of designer Hardy Blechman, Maharishi has produced its award winning pacifist military designs since 1994.  The roots of Maharishi, and offshoot label MHI, lay in Blechman’s former career in the military surplus clothing trade, which inspired Blechman to take the concept of repurposing to a new level.

By its very nature, the uniform is intended to dull the sense of individuality and emphasize the wearer's role in service to the heirarchical collective unit. For Autumn/Winter 2020, maharishi subverts this intended purpose with the M.A.H.A. World Corps collection. Taking inspiration from Vietnamense Hmong story cloths, natural coloring methods derived from Middle Eastern tribal communities, and the further exploration of camouflage patterns worn by South Korea's paramilitary student trainees from the 1970s through the 1990s, these repurposed garments are designed to restore a sense of the individual human.

This standard fit crew neck long sleeve T-Shirt is made from organic cotton and features maharishi's hand-machined embroidery.

maharishi interprets the dragon as representing man’s spiritual quest for wisdom. A mythological creature, the dragon takes the form of a snake or serpent, with wings. The snake, with its entire body bound to the Earth, is most symbolic of man on Earth. Once that serpent is given wings, it comes to represent man in flight on his quest for wisdom.
