During the course of his short career, Jean-Michel Basquiat went from amateur street artist spray painting on buildings to a revered painter whose multimedia works appeared in renowned galleries around the world. Combining poetry and painting, Basquiat’s abstract work acted as a social commentary on race and class.

This time around, Basquiat’s work appears on a different type of canvas altogether— that of the iconic Chuck 70. Adapting his “Kings of Egypt III” to the classic sneaker, Basquiat's dramatic and colorful work is applied to the shoe using digital print and embroidered detail. Suede overlays and a tonal patch add contrast and accents, but the primary focus remains the timeless work of Basquiat.
