People say truly finding ‘yourself’ is similar to peeling back the layers of an onion, where the more you strip away, the closer you get to who you really are. But as far as we’re concerned, this metaphor should just stick to being an appetizer at Outback Steakhouse.

Because as corny as it might sound in this cynical post-post- ironic world, when you put on clothing you genuinely like for the purpose of looking and feeling your best, it’s really an expression of who you are, you know? Wearing your heart not on your sleeve but as your sleeve.

However, in the summer when your sweat beads have sweat beads, the heat can get you down, to the point where putting on clothing is motivated by nothing more than avoiding an indecent exposure charge.

So for many, when those temperatures start to drop and the pumpkin signal appears in the sky, you’re more than ready to layer up and start showing off your sense of style. But you don’t need a degree in Layer-nomics from F.I.T. to do so. Pairing stuff together and turning what is otherwise an eclectic assortment of pieces into a complete look isn’t something that can be taught but rather felt, like a gut instinct or natural reaction - same as when an artist works a canvas or a musician improvises a solo. And that feeling when it all comes together in a way you might not have expected? That’s what it’s all about.
