x TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist PACKABLE T-SHIRT
After defying expectations with a part technical/functional part biker jacket take on an aggressive, bulky, late 1980s basketball silhouette for their previous Converse collaboration, TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist turns its attention to an icon in the Jack Purcell.
True to form, an ostensibly simple concept, an American flag motif, is, in the hands of TheSoloist, expressed with an innovative, physically and conceptually multifaceted execution. The stars and stripes print, first introduced by Converse in 1991, simultaneously references the 90s fashion and vintage Americana, while a zipper running up the shoe’s tongue are a technically inspired detail that also nods its head towards the motorcycle aesthetic that informs Miyashita’s work.
Accompanying apparel continues the technical performance/classic style hybrid, as a minimalist, black dominant palette combines modern lines with unexpected details. A zip up hoodie features footwear inspired lace up hood with metal eyelets, while a packable simple, clean black t-shirt features subtle, Converse star detailing.
