By 1976, the classic Converse All-Star, while iconic as ever off the court, didn't really represent the state of the art of basketball performance footwear. In 1976, Converse introduced the Pro Leather. A pre-molded and stitched, rather than vulcanized sole, leather upper, and new cupsole design made the Pro Leather as essential for the new, fast paced style of basketball as the All-Star had ever been. 

It is this spirit of utility that informs London based designer Paria Farzaneh's new, collaborative take on the Pro Leather, which deftly blends utilitarian features with high fashion experimentalism. Where the original Pro Leather's function was specifically geared for the basketball court, the Paria Pro Leather X2 broadens the scope of 'utility', with a beefed up, rugged, outdoors inspired design. 

 An exaggerated sole unit and rope lace equipped metal d-ring eyelets provide the practical groundwork, while a split upper of premium leather and intricate, paisley adorned mesh (a nod to Farzaneh's Iranian background) provide a delicate, artistic counterbalance.
