adidas and Nigo-helmed masters of reimagined vintage aesthetics Human Made launch their first collaborative project of Autumn/Winter 2020. Under the guiding principle of the future is in the past, two footwear silhouettes and a range of apparel drawn from the extensive archives of both adidas and Nigo’s personal collection offer a timeless simplicity, imbued with a visionary, forward-thinking spirit.

The UNOFCL HM playfully overhauls the adidas Master, a 1970s court silhouette. Designed for on-court officials, the original master is a model of simplicity: solid color, leather uppers, perforated stripes and Velcro straps. Nigo has kept this basic construction intact, opting to embellish this understated design with Human Made branding. The stripes transform from circular perforations to hearts, the Velcro straps feature the brand’s Gears For Futuristic Teenagers slogan, and the heels sport Human Made Dry Alls text. The finishing touch is provided by a subtle alteration of the classic adidas box logo tongue label, where the space that would normally be occupied by a trefoil or signature portrait features Human Made’s heart logo.
