Engineered Garments have made an art form out of reimagining the familiar. Their uniquely crafted, refined attention to detail has a transformative effect on the vintage Americana source material. Now, the inventive craftsmanship of Engineered Garments has been turned loose in a new arena.
As part of the UltraBOOST Collective initiative, Adidas has tapped Engineered Garments to utilize their distinctive mix of traditional technique and elegant, idiosyncratic vision to create a fresh take on the UltraBOOST silhouette.
It hasn’t been that long since the UltraBOOST made its debut in early 2015, but it already feels like an icon, so appropriately enough, Engineered Garments have looked into the past to move forward. The vivid ‘bluebird’ colorway has adorned some of the most beloved shoes to be found in the Adidas archive, and its use here gives the modern build of the UltraBOOST a classic running feel. Engineered Garments push the retro/contemporary juxtaposition even further by incorporating materials and accents like twill cotton, mismatched embroidered stripes, and a gum outsole, alongside the ultra modern Primeknit upper.
To round out the project, Engineered Garments flip the tech/traditional script on an bucket hat. Rendered in tech fabrics and an emphatically athletic colorway, Engineered Garments create a playful contrast between performance sportswear and a longtime fixture of casual simplicity.
