The Varsity Letter's origins can be traced back to the late 19th century, when Harvard athletes who contested important games against rivals like Princeton and Yale were allowed to keep their 'H' emblazoned jerseys as a kind of commemorative award.
Today, the Varsity Letter is still awarded as a symbol of tangible accomplishment, and there are certain standards that must be met to get one. Of course, if you're not in high school or college, it can be a bit difficult to meet those athletic participation based standards.
Can you letter in superior taste though?
