Introduced by the U.S. military in 1951, the M-51 parka was designed to keep wearers warm and protected from the elements, without being overly bulky or hindering physical movement. Neighborhood trade the olive drab for black nylon, add fluorescent, slogan emblazoned PVC to the hood, and a discreet lightning bolt graphic, for a thoroughly modern update. Not unlike the B-52 bomber, the M-51 parka is a classic shape that remains relevant in the contemporary field.
