JORDAN 3 RETRO
Continuing their tribute to Michael Jordan’s most formidable rivals, the Jumpman is redressing yet another retro silhouette in opponent’s team colors. This time it’s the AJ3 reimagined in New York Knicks’ blue, white and orange.
Of course MJ never played for the Knicks, but his relationship with the team as competitors over the years cannot be ignored. A force to be reckoned with, the New York franchise often posed a pesky obstacle for MJ and the Bulls, occasionally standing in between them and a championship. The classic clashes would feature epic rosters often that featured Jordan and Pippen under the sage coaching advice of Phil Jackson, up against Patrick Ewing, John Starks and coach Pat Riley.
Share in the memories and the mutual respect each team had for one another with this AJ 3 dressed in white tumbled leather with blue highlights poking through the eyelets, the lining, outsole and Jumpman logo on the heel. Orange echoes similarly on the eyelets, outsole and Jumpman embroidered on the tongue. The “elephant skin” mudguard screams “eighties” with a streetwise accent that looks like the cross between broken glass and reptile skin. A commemorative 04.08.88, written on the tongue tag, finishes off the sneaker honoring the date where Jordan put up 40 points to beat the Knicks despite playing with a stomach virus.
