In Jordan lore, the “flu game,” (it turned out to be food poisoning, but the pizza game doesn’t really have the same ring to it) saw an illness stricken Michael Jordan take the court just moments ahead of game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals. With the series tied at 2-2, and Utah unbeaten at home in the playoffs up to that point, the presence of MJ was more critical than ever. Seemingly by sheer force of will, he put up 38 points, leading the Bulls to a comeback victory over the Jazz in the pivotal battle. It took the old “you can’t stop him, you can only hope to contain him” chestnut, to a microbiological level.
The Jordan 12 ‘Reverse Flu Game’ flips the classic Chicago red and black colorway worn by Jordan in this legendary contest, with a rich, stitched, red suede upper, with reptile textured leather overlays.
