After serving as a canvas for Jun Takahashi’s aggressive modernism, the Nike Daybreak returns to its 1979 form. Thanks to a simple, pleasing 1970s design, its popularity with genuine runners and a paucity of reissues over the past forty years, the Daybreak is a longtime cult favorite amongst Nike enthusiasts.
The waffle sole equipped, EVA cushioned, nylon/suede construction of the original Daybreak reappears in three, striking new colorways. Lavender with black swoosh branding inverts the neutral to purple ratio of an OG Daybreak colorway, which featured grey tones with purple swoosh branding. An ‘ocean fog’ colorway puts a bold tweak on a Nike classic, as the old-school athletics look of blue and yellow is reimagined with metallic gold. A black and metallic silver variation outfits the 1979 silhouette in with a sleek, aggressive design that wouldn’t become commonplace in running footwear until years later.
