The Campus is pillar in the pantheon of all-time, classic three stripes silhouettes. During an era when retro was a specialized niche, models that had reached the end of their athletic performance careers would disappear for years at a time. The Campus though, always had a place alongside fellow perennially available titans like the Gazelle, Samba, Superstar and Stan Smith.

Originally a low top basketball shoe, the Campus offered the effortless good looks of a suede upper and subtly textured midsole, in an array of color options. It’s reputation for stylish versatility was cemented by its associations with the Beastie Boys and the cross pollination between the skate and hip hop scenes.

A special edition of the Campus, with Tokyo based, experimentalists Recouture, takes a hands-on craftsmanship approach to the silhouette’s inherent versatility. A conceptual take on the Campus is inspired by trial and error, as ‘mistake’ colorways feature burgundy, navy and grey palettes, applied as mismatched paneling, to a single upper. A corresponding, subdued mistake colorway features the same three shades, applied as stripe branding, to a classic, off-white suede upper with subtle mismatched details, made to the exacting craft standards of Recouture.
