The Scandinavian hallmarks, simplicity of form and practical functionality have represented the gold standard in modern design for over sixty years. While jewelry is an inherently decorative concern, Oslo, Norway based Tom Wood have informed their creative output with the Scandinavian design principles of universality and understated simplicity.
The Clytia pendant is an exclusive and unique piece made in the Southern part of Italy, famous for their traditional craftsmanship of Cameo carvings made on shells. The pendant and necklace are made of solid 925 sterling silver plated with white rhodium to strengthen the surface and prevent tarnishing. All Tom Wood chains are classic and modern unisex styles, easy to wear as a single statement piece or to be combined with other necklaces from our collections.
The hand crafted Cameo carving is inspired by Greek mythology. As a symbol of eternal love, Clytia is seen sleeping while Helios, the God of Sun, is shining over her from above. She fell helplessly in love with Helios and when he didn’t return her love, she lied down on the rocks staring at the sun and eventually turned into a sunflower, always looking longingly up at Helios.
