People used to laugh at the Virtual Reality gamers for being shut ins, then being a shut in became a necessity than a lifestyle choice. Chemical clouds, dangerous UV exposure levels, tidal waves, there are any number of reasons why you just can’t leave your place for days at a time when one of those alerts goes off.

Turns out the gamers had a head start on everyone. If you’re in a tower high rise, being 40 floors up and not allowed to go outside can get mentally claustrophobic. They had to develop VR sims for everyday, outdoor activities, just to keep people from losing it.
