BLANK PATCH CREW SWEAT
BLANK PATCH CREW SWEAT
-
The brainchild of designer Hardy Blechman, Maharishi has produced its award-winning pacifist military designs since 1994. The roots of Maharishi, and offshoot label MHI, lay in Blechman’s former career in the military surplus clothing trade, which inspired Blechman to take the concept of repurposing to a new level.
This crew sweat can be made blank by detaching the hand-machine embroidered patches, to reveal their soft hook & eye solid colour bases. The lower sleeve patch represents Peace or the CND, and when inverted in a salute, represents the CUD, or Campaign for Unilateral Disarmament. The pink triangle was the symbol of the gay liberation movement before the rainbow flag again changed the meaning of the symbols around us.
