For a brand that sprang from Adi Dassler’s obsession with specialized, performance, athletic footwear, Adidas have have been ahead of the curve when it comes to fashion for a long time. Even before fashion designers were brought into the fold, footwear models ranging from high-end tennis shoes and state of the art runners, to ultra-specific models for lawn bowling and handball were coveted objects on city streets all over the world, and three stripes branded apparel was the final word in leisurewear.
Fast forward a few decades, and these sportswear essentials aren’t just something to throw on; they are an integral part of contemporary fashion. For Spring 2017, Adidas has once again enlisted the services of design luminary Alexander Wang, on a collection that takes on timeless pieces from the Adidas archives.
The Spring 2017 Adidas Originals x Alexander Wang collection features two footwear silhouettes, the AW BBall and the AW Skate. The BBall is a stunning, post-modern take on the classic Adidas Forum featuring a multi layered, mixed material design and Boost sole, while the AW Skate is a deconstructed, minimalist interpretation of a vulcanized skate shoe.
