Nike’s full-fledged revival of the All Conditions Gear range has emphasized the ACG mantra, all conditions means all conditions. In somewhat less abstract terms, Nike has been encouraging users to resist the urge to keep ACG pieces behind the protective bubble of ‘fashion,’ and actually use them for the outdooring activities they were expressly designed for.

For Fall 2019, the scope of all conditions is expanded upon further, with the idea that the modern world is the new outdoors. In 1989, the original introduction of ACG was meant to get the average exerciser away from the artificial environments of treadmills and aerobics studios, and into nature. Thirty years on, the ACG concept embraces literally any time spent out of doors as the outdoors. In other words, the picturesque scenes of wooded trails and rock faces begging to be climbed might be ideal, but they aren’t the only environments that require outdoors performance. With the right state of mind, a trek of a couple of city blocks can be its own adventure.

The functional and philosophical versatility of ACG is reflected in the Fall collection’s modern outlook. Weather resistance is paired with climate control venting, contemporary silhouettes meet 90s sportswear inspired color palettes and essentials are executed with contemporary materials and an abundance of functional storage options, all complimented by classic basics like graphic tees, hoodies, and headwear.

The Fall 2019 ACG collection’s footwear debuts new colorways of the classic Air Wildwood and the versatile modern trail silhouette, the React Terra Gobe, as well as reintroducing a deep cut from the ACG Archive. The Air Skarn takes the sleek waves and curves that made icons out of mid-90s Air Max models, and tailors them for an off-road environment, as a chunky, tread sole, and rugged mesh with leather overlay construction are rendered in a sand, navy and red colorway, that combines classic outdoor and sportswear aesthetics.
