2019 marks the 30th anniversary of Nike’s revolutionary All Conditions Gear range. While the “all conditions means all conditions” mantra is, typically an impetus to continuously push the technological boundaries of outdoors functionality, a nice, round milestone number like 30 makes an ideal time to reexamine your roots.
To that end, the Spring/Summer ’19 ACG collection takes its inspiration from the inaugural, 1989 All Conditions Gear range. The bright colors and bold prints and graphics that represented the era’s cutting edge aesthetic are on full display, through the use of archival Nike prints featuring manipulated, stylized, outdoor elements like rock formations, petroglyph art, and plants. While the fashion forward visual elements opened up a world of outdoor adventurism to a whole, new demographic, and made the ACG label a cult favorite for years afterwards, the real meat of All Conditions Gear has always been its ability to hold up in all conditions.
The Spring/Summer ’19 collection returns to the original, three-step layering system of moisture wicking, wool base layers, fleece insulation and waterproof Gore-Tex.
