Recent years have seen Nike reintroduce late '70s running classics like the Tailwind and Daybreak. Next out of the blocks: the Nike Challenger.
Originally released in 1979, the Challenger's distinctive feature was the zig-zagged, variable width lacing system that allowed for easier tightening and loosening of the laces. Although by modern standards, the nylon upper, mesh toebox, and suede overlays with foam cushioning are considered a simple design, the Challenger helped to cement Nike's reputation as an innovators, with a intuitive sense for the needs of their wearers.
This reissue is as close to a 1-to-1 remake as possible, with the same shimmering nylon, breathable mesh, and soft suedes of the original utilized in the construction.
