Was the original Space Jam a good movie? Not really. But, it was an event like no other. One of the most coveted Jordans are named after this film. Bill Murray hoops in it. The soundtrack is absolutely stellar. We see Michael Jordan play baseball and prove he was the greatest basketball player in multiple universes. So, sure, Space Jam isn't very good but it's one of pop culture and sports' most important artifacts. The world feels less complete without it.
The new version has big shoes to fill in that regard but if there's anyone who you'd trust to lead the charge in another intergalactic game of basketball, it has to be Lebron James.
