Baseball season is long. It’s no use to come flying off of the blocks and on top of the world by the All-Star break, only to run out of gas in September and October. Nike’s City Pride Baseball back takes three silhouettes, the Blazer Mid, Air Force 1 and Air Trainer Huarache that can go the distance over 162 games, in chilly, early season nights, in the dog days, and in the crunch of autumn, and outfits them in colorways celebrating specific baseball cities.

A leather version of the Blazer Mid is decked out in a white, with red and blue accents colorway, in homage to the Chicago Cubs. The simple, timeless, classic looks of the Blazer make the perfect footwear accompaniment to the mix of deep, historical tradition and bouncy, let’s play two optimism of Wrigley Field.

The Air Force 1 was introduced in the 80s as a modern marvel, but become a longtime fixture in its own right, not unlike the SkyDome. The traditional, leather construction of the Air Force 1 is rendered in a color blocked design that shifts from a pale, blue-grey leather to bright royal, baseball jacket inspired satin, with white accents, recalling the mix of classic and modern that the underappreciated, dominant Blue Jays of the early 90s captured back to back World Series in.

The Houston Astros are synonymous with technology and innovation, not just for the space age nature of their name, but for introducing the modern superstructure, the Astrodome, and the artificial playing surface that came along with it, Astroturf. Even though, in 2019, the Astrodome is no longer the 8th wonder of the world, its legacy lives on, making the retro tech styling of the Air Trainer an ideal choice to celebrate the Astros. The chunky, cross training execution of the Huarache’s sleek construction features a multi color palette that incorporates several incarnations of Astros uniforms, from the current Astros livery, to the classic “Tequila Sunrise,” multi color variant.

All three silhouettes in the City Pride Baseball back feature Nike tongue logos secured by red, baseball seam style stitching.
