By modern technology standards, the classic Nike Blazer is a decidedly retro silhouette, but in 1972, when the Blazer became the first basketball model under the newly christened 'Nike' banner, uppers utilizing leather and suede, rather than canvas, and vulcanized, traction rubber soles represented the pinnacle of hardwood court technology.
Since then, the Blazer has remained a perennial favorite on all points of the sneaker spectrum. Whether you own 200 pairs, and change based on mood, or 2 pairs, and wear the same shoe day in day out, rain or shine, the timeless simplicity of a white leather court silhouette with a vulcanized sole is prepared to rack up playing time.
As part of their BE TRUE collection for Pride Month, Nike takes on the Blazer Low. While the design maintains the familiar white leather and tonal suede overlays, color and attitude shine through via a pink pastel midsole, a rainbow stitched Swoosh, alternate colored insoles, and a hook and loop adhesive on the heel where you can display any of the ten unity flags and pride patches that accompany the release.
