Part of a series of Converse shoes celebrating 130 years of basketball history, the Pro Leather 'Birth Of Flight' celebrates the legacy of the  American Basketball Association. The upstart league operated from 1967 through 1976, when it merged with the NBA. In that relatively short amount of time, the ABA managed to revolutionize the game, from introducing specific innovations like the three point line and slam dunk contest, to a general emphasis on flashy, open, crowd-pleasing offensive basketball. 

It's fitting that the Pro Leather has been chosen as for the ABA tribute, as it was famously worn by the league's most famous alum, Dr. J. The Pro Leather Birth of Flight sports the ABA's red, white, and blue livery, with the distinctive ball design marking an appearance at the heels. A star-spangled sock liner provides a colorful counterpart to the upper's classic, old school, white leather construction. Interchangeable red and blue chevron branding offers a touch of the individualized style that made the ABA great.
