If there is a common thread that links several decades of Nike running shoes together, from old school nylon classics like the Cortez to the Breaking 2 shoes of today, it is the willingness to experiment. Why not design a shoe focused on the asphalt and concrete pounding needs of amateur runners? Why not try out that air cushioning system?
The EXP-X14 model, short for experimental, channels the innovation embracing, envelope pushing spirit that keeps Nike at the cutting edge of performance technology, into a new lifestyle silhouette. The X14 in the model name refers to the internal Nike name for React cushioning technology, which features in the EXP-14’s midsole. A translucent upper is a modern update of the late 90s running model, the Nike Zoom Drive, while an exposed TPU plate and tapered heel design incorporate elements of the Zoom Vaporfly 4% from the Breaking 2 range.
