BLAZER MID '77 VNTG WE
Compared to other fixtures in the line-up of Nike icons, the Blazer is positively simple. As one of Nike’s first ever hardwood models, originally released in 1973, the Blazer predates the revolutionary developments that would make Nike and cutting edge technology synonymous; the Blazer is just a leather upper with a nylon tongue, atop a vulcanized rubber sole, but this versatile simplicity allowed the Blazer to catch on in fields like skateboarding and casual fashion, long after its active court days were over.
The new ‘canvas pack,’ revels in this simplicity, perhaps even more so than the original Blazer itself. A canvas upper with distressed, ‘hairy’ suede overlays is rendered in tonal colorways of black, sail, and pink foam, for tastefully understated, crisp elegance, which is another way of saying that you can wear these every day, and they go with everything, while “Blazer” and “1977” branding at the heels is a subtle nod to the customized “Iceman” pair worn by Spurs star George Gervin, one of the earliest, if not the earliest, example of a player exclusive basketball sneaker.
