AIR MAX 95 NDSTRKT
Everyone knows the Air Max 95. It’s easily one of the most revolutionary sneakers of all time. As influential as it was popular, the human body influenced, layered design forever changed the perception of what a running shoe was ‘supposed’ to look like.
Nike is a huge company though. The Air Max range was far from the only innovation iron in the fire in 1995. Somewhat less well known, is NDSTRKT. While individual silhouettes like the Air Raid and Air Darwin were designed for the specific needs of blacktop-based basketball players, the introduction of NDSTRKT offered a full range of heavy duty, extra tough shoes encompassing basketball, tennis, and running.
The Air Max 95 NDSTRKT combines Air Max 95 base construction with beefed-up revamping taken from the NDSTRKT series. The layered upper switches to a closed weave mesh and water resistant, synthetic textile construction, featuring a rugged, angular rubber overlay. A series of nylon webbing stripes serve as the lace eyestays, while recalling the layered, original design. The classic, heel and forefoot visible Air window sole has been bolstered with grippy traction properties. The only thing missing from 1995 is a sports page columnist complaining about Dennis Rodman’s hair dye.
