To properly introduce the Air Barrage, a little clarification is necessary for people who didn’t live through the 90s the first time around. In 2019, artificial playing surfaces are state of the art, as close to natural grass as possible within the bounds of science stuff. In 1995, when the Air Barrage originally released, turf basically meant green asphalt. The prospect of a trip to somewhere like the Vet, Three Rivers, Rich Stadium, the Astrodome, or the Meadowlands was daunting enough, but to throw in the most unforgiving of surfaces on top of that almost seemed cruel.

To the uninitiated, the bulky, aggressive tech design, prominent overlays and bold branding of the Air Barrage may look like another member of the Uptempo basketball family, but it was a football shoe, designed specifically for the demands of artificial turf.

The Air Barrage makes its first return to shelves since its original release year, with a timely, Toronto Raptors-esque livery. A purple, mesh base serves as a springboard for black overlays, a white midsole and toebox, and red Nike and Air branding have the Air Barrage ready to run to daylight from behind its current under the radar cult favorite status.

If a size is not listed, it is sold out.
