1985 was, undoubtably, an epic year. Compact discs were introduced, Back to the Future hit the theatres, and, of course, the first ever Air Jordan 1 was released as Michael Jordan’s initial signature shoe. At first, the silhouette was not well received and was associated with Jordan's rebellious nature in the NBA, turning the majority of the population away. Even when re-released as a retro in 1994, pairs were sold for sometimes as low as $19.99, hitting clearance racks all over the country. When the shoe was retroed for a second time in 2001 in Black/Red and Black/Royal colorways, it began picking up traction within the public, and the rest...well...is history. Since then, the Air Jordan 1 has been released as a retro well over one hundred times, making it one of the most highly sought after retro Jordans in Air Jordan history.
Continuing this legacy, Air Jordan drops yet another design of the classic silhouette, this time introducing a new “Guava” colorway. As part of the regional exclusive drop, also referred to as the “Nike Air Logo” pack that introduces two other colorways as well, the Guava-colored shoe will be exclusively available in North America, Pacific Asia, and Latin America. While featuring canvas on the toe and side panels, Guava Ice-colored leather overlays add a touch of luxury to the now common design. Highlighting unique distinction from other Jordan 1s, the printed detailing on the canvas panels assists in adding pizazz to an otherwise tame look. While the lateral section/side panels include oversized “NIKE” lettering, the medial side panels present a repeating text from a NIKE copyright disclaimer. The shoe is then finished off with a Sail midsole and Guava outsole, drawing the look full circle.
