Milan may be the epicenter of international fashion, and Tuscany may grab the “old world craftsmanship” mantle, but the provincial town of Ferrara can lay claim to one of the most significant developments in modern, Italian fashion, as the place where Slam Jam was founded.
A new collaborative project with Adidas Consortium draws on Slam Jam’s dual-wielding skills, as their blend of high fashion sophistication and cutting edge, contemporary style is put to use on two silhouettes, the iconic Superstar and the modern, running inspired P.O.D. S3.1.
The Superstar transforms a model strongly associated with bold, ostentatious streetwear style into a decidedly refined, minimalist look, with white leather, subtle, perforated, Stan Smith style side stripes, and old-school, box text branding.
The P.O.D. S3.1 applies the tonal white, minimalist aesthetic to a design where modern performance and high-end fashion elements seamlessly flow into each other. A Boost cushioned heel and ‘point of deflection’ technology provide a dynamic base for a tonal white, mixed materials upper that blends neoprene with rich leather, while the subtle application of contrasting color accents infuse an stately, athletic touch.
