The town of Hawkins, Indiana may seem like a candidate to be officially named Anytown, USA, but there are things that go on under the surface, things that are, not usual. People whose senses are attuned to the extraordinary already have their suspicions about what really goes on at the seemingly innocuous Department of Energy complex, Hawkins National Laboratory. But things have been escalating; even those who would prefer to not know any better can’t ignore the strange phenomena and the disappearances. Questions have to be asked about what is really going on in Hawkins, Indiana. Namely, how does the physical education department of an average high school, in an average middle American town, come to be equipped by the preeminent name in sportswear?
The Nike x Stranger things capsule travels back to 1985 with a range of apparel: tees, sweatpants, hoodies, and a meshback cap. The second mysterious appearance of these limited pieces is outfitted with the town's 4th of July celebrations in mind. Three iconic Nike silhouettes, the Air Tailwind 79, Blazer and Cortez, along with Hawkins High School issue physical education gear is decked out in navy blue, to compliment the holiday's red, white, and blue atmosphere. The retro, mid-80s stylings cover everything from Billy Hargrove/Steve Harrington battles for gym class supremacy, to the physical challenges of running from the Mind Flayer, fighting off demogorgons, and trips in and, hopefully back out, of the Upside Down.
