6/28/19: adidas Consortium x Bristol Collection
Adidas and Los Angeles based lifestyle label/design house Bristol Studio renew their collaborative acquaintance, with a new capsule collection inspired by the legendary beachside basketball courts of Venice Beach, California.
Bicycling through Venice Beach to get to the iconic courts was a regular, childhood summer activity for Bristol Studio creative director Luke Tadashi, and the atmosphere absorbed on those rides is as important to the collection’s vibe as the on-court happenings. The colorful, seasonal palette is rendered in vivid, but muted tones, for an air of architectural longevity as opposed to the transient thrills offered by blinding fluorescence.
The collection’s apparel is a selection of court essentials, with a particular focus placed on retro style; think prominent color blocking, glossy fabrics and oversized silhouettes, to go along with the tropical colors.
The collection’s footwear component covers on and off court needs, with the Boost pod and Primeknit equipped update of the distinctive, 90s era Crazy-8 silhouette, and a multicolored, patchwork, mesh/leather take on the indispensable Adilette slide sandal.
