Bodega x Converse First String: Ride or Die Pack November 21st, 2012

BOSTON, MA – Inspired by the 1960’s Mods and Rockers subcultures, Bodega collaborates with Converse in the release of the Ride or Die pack, featuring the Converse Pro Leather. Combining modernist subtleties with a masculine edge, the Ride or Die pack employs a variety of unorthodox materials that clash and brawl with each other. The Pro Leather Ox features fine detail accented against premium black leather.  While the Pro Leather mid employs pony hair that gives the sneaker an understated sheen typical of high fashion pieces. Though the Pro Leather originated with Dr. J on the basketball court, Bodega’s Ride or Die pack fits whether you’re on your bike doing 100mph down the highway or kicking back while listening to The Who. In changing the way Converse’s classic silhouette is interpreted, Bodega continues to reset expectations and create innovative designs.

The Ride or Die pack was produced in very limited numbers, each shoe comes with a t-shirt, pins and extra’s. The pack will be available online at midnight on Thursday, November 22nd and in-store on Black Friday, November 23rd.

TWIN PEAKS April 12th, 2011

Coming off his recent success, Terry’s gone all Mr. Outdoorsman on us and decided to take a little trip up north.  Sneaker Freaker Magazine got a hold of his “Designer’s Log” — chocked full of completely illegible journal entries detailing his strenuous quest.

DESIGNER’S LOG

03/20, 20:14
Alive and Deliverance are buffering right now on YouTube.  Per recommendations from industry reps, I will watch them and hope to be inspired.
[EDIT:] Just finished the movies, and my mind is officially blown.  I will ride my bike to the Eddie Bauer Outlet tomorrow to get some gear and prepare.  Am I ready for the outdoors?  Or is the outdoors ready for me?

03/21, 15:33
Showed up a few hours late to work ‘cause I had to go to the EB Outlet.  Sometimes people just don’t understand what it takes.  People at the shop are saying they’re sick of me, so they want me to head up to the mountains and field test my Night Sky boots.

03/22, 09:36
The ascent begins…

03/22, 09:45
I’ve bunkered down and established base camp.  This tent got tricky on me, but I figured it out.  My boots and rations should hold me over for now…
[EDIT:] I definitely didn’t pack enough food.  I need to look for some vegetation.

03/22, 11:53
Found something edible at the base of a tree.  Looked like one of my snacks… almost like a Twinkie.

03/22, 13:??
Not sure if I’m seeing things, but I definitely saw a wolverine chasing a copperhead snake.  My mouth is so dry.  I want to go find my spirit animal.  I wish I had my Xbox up here.  I feel like my tent was a different color earlier.  Am I in someone else’s tent?

03/22, ??:??
These birds outside are killing my high.  Why does nature hate me?

03/22, ??:??
Found what looks like a squirrel next to my tent.  I made a piece out of it since I forgot some necessities back in reality.  I’m pretty sure that’s what my spirit animal would want me to do.

03/23, 07:24
What the hell happened yesterday?  It must’ve been that Twinkie I found.  I need to fight my way off this mountain.  I can’t be up here another night.

Bodega is proud to announce the release of the Bodega x Reebok Night Sky. Each pair of shoes will come with a matching tee and water bottle. Field tested by Bodega’s quasi-intern Terry Blay, the boots have been affectionately named the “Nappy Dugouts” referring to the deep shaggy “muppet skin” suede. The “Nappy Dugouts” also feature fast gripping gum sole, alpine-style quick lacing system, and rip stop paneling throughout the body. This limited release will be made available at Bodega on Saturday, April 16th 2011. The shoes retail for $135 and can be purchased both in-store and online at www.bdgastore.com.  The “Nappy Dugouts” will go live online at midnight, Saturday, the 16th.

Reebok Night Sky Wikileaked December 22nd, 2010

Had no idea we put info about this project out…..but Patrick from Dime mag just sent me heads up that it’s out and he approves. Thanks Patrick! And Damn You Julian Assange!!!!!!

via nicekicks.com

Bodega’s collaborations, up to this point, have been nothing less than superb to say the least. Its latest work with Reebok, on the Night Sky, is another fantastic design in its long list of joint efforts. Bodega and Reebok chose to cater to the sneaker enthusiasts who go through extreme winters with this design. The athletic-based, outdoor boot is laced with suede and nylon panels colored in beige and blue. Other aspects, such as the padded collar, hiking laces and a gum sole, give this shoe a boot construction feel. Lastly, a Bodega tongue label provides a little color to the somewhat subtle design. Look for the Bodega x Reebok Night Sky to hit retailers in 2011.

LATER GATOR November 27th, 2010

On Saturday, December 11th Bodega will be releasing the highly anticipated Bodega x Lacoste Broadwick as part of the Lacoste Legends Project.  Limited to 150 pairs, there will be an exclusive offering of 50 pairs that are specially packaged with a Bodega tee.

The Lacoste Legends Power of 12 is an inspirational new footwear design project bringing together 12 renowned collaborators from the worlds of music, media, design, and retail to create an exclusive collection comprising of 12 unique shoes.

Sharing the Lacoste values of tenacity, authenticity, originality, and effortless style, the 12 contributors altogether become the Lacoste Legends.

The story of Legends begins with René Lacoste.  Reigning tennis champion of the 1920s and known as ‘The Crocodile’ for his on-court tenacity, René was a true legend of his time.  Famed for his sportsmanship, his spiritedness, elegance and enduring sense of style, René went on to found the eponymous Lacoste brand that has borne the much-beloved crocodile emblem for over 75 years.

As a prolific inventor off the tennis court, René created the ubiquitous L.12.12 Polo Shirt, utilizing state-of-the-art technology to craft it from breathable cotton known as petit piqué.  To this day, the Polo Shirt remains an icon of the brand, synonymous with quality and style.

Inspired by the legacy of René and the Lacoste tradition of innovation, the story lives on through the Legends footwear concept that unites 12 contemporary Legends to pay homage to the great man and the iconic L.12.12 Polo.

Fusing the collection together, each shoe features a tongue crafted from petit piqué cotton, incorporating a woven Lacoste-branded tab finished with a mother-of-pearl button, referencing the intricate detailing found on the L.12.12 Polo.  The 12 designs reflect the broadly diverse personalities and creative talents of each of the contributors, as well as confirming their legendary status as the foremost trendsetters and opinion-leaders from across the globe.

Bodega x Palladium November 3rd, 2010

Bodega and heritage boot brand Palladium have joined forces on a version of Palladium’s signature ‘Baggy’ boot, just in time for the cold season. The ‘Fisticuffs’ boot features a herringbone pattern on the upper and rich chocolate leather, harkening back to the formal dress of the Victorian gentleman. ‘Fisticuffs’ is slang dating back to England’s Victorian era when gentlemen settled their differences in hand to hand duels. ‘Back then, people were polite, even when they were about to throw fists at each other’ said Barney Waters of Palladium, himself an Englishman. ‘When things got rough, there was still a formality and etiquette to the occasion. There were rules of conduct. This boot is the same way; it’s ready to get down and dirty, but the materials are of high quality, allowing it to be dressed up’. Dan from Bodega added, “Scattered throughout the boot are subtle details relating back to this theme because let’s face it boots are meant to kick ass. As a store we’re always looking to diversify our brands and Palladium was an obvious choice. From a retail stand point it’s a great looking product with that important mix of quality fabrication, well considered materials, heritage, and value.”

The Bodega ‘Fisticuffs’ boot features premium leathers for the vamp and a contrasting herringbone material for the upper. The wool lining, comfort foot bed and gusset tongue make it the essential boot for the fall/winter season. Bodega created a custom logo for the boot, which is laser etched onto the leather tongue. Each pair of boots will be individually numbered, with only 350 pairs being available globally.

The five lucky winners of the Gentleman’s Pack lottery will get a ‘Essentials kit’ from around the World. It includes a classic French Opinel pocket knife, a Japanese Straight Edge Nail Clipper from Seki, a British badger hair shaving brush and shaving soap from E Shave, and a classic steel razor from Merkur of Germany, as well as other Bodega essentials. The five winning numbers that correspond with the purchased boot will posted at www.Bdgastore.com along with instructions on how to claim the “Gentleman’s Pack”.

Civic Duty Shoes June 15th, 2010

I met Steve from Civic Duty shoes this morning. He was kind enough to walk us through the brand new line that is debuting in Holiday 2010. The line consists of your classic silhouettes: chukkas, chuck /purcells, eras – all rubber outsoles & tyvek uppers. The Tyvek application they used is durable , weatherproof and breathable. It gives an interesting texture that we haven’t seen on kicks before (although PF Flyers did utilize tyvek in a midpanel a couple years ago).

On top of the interesting material story, Civic duty also selects a charity to design one model for each collection – with all the proceeds going to the charity. The debut collection benefits a charity focused on rebuilding New Orleans. Hopefully this altruistic trend (bigup toms!) spreads throughout more fashion.
